Software built around how your business actually works.

Yippify is a small software engineering company that works with growing businesses, startups, and government teams. We build custom web applications and internal tools that replace spreadsheets and manual workflows, develop SaaS products and MVPs, and modernize existing applications and their cloud infrastructure while they stay in production.

You don’t need a specification to talk to us. Bring the spreadsheet, the slow process, or the product idea, and we’ll tell you whether it needs new software, changes to what you already have, or something simpler.

20+ years building and running production software. Architecture through deployment, handled by the same people. A small team, so you talk directly to the engineers doing the work.

What people usually bring us

Most projects start with a sentence like one of these. Sometimes the fix is a new application. Sometimes it’s an integration, a change to the system you already have, or no new software at all.

  • A spreadsheet that quietly became an operations system
  • A report someone rebuilds by hand every week
  • Staff copying the same data between systems
  • An internal process existing software doesn’t fit
  • A product idea that needs a first version
  • A prototype that now has to run in production
  • An application that has become risky to change or deploy
  • A cloud bill growing faster than usage
  • Interest in AI, but no clear idea where it would help

How a project usually runs

We learn how the work happens today, build the smallest version that helps, get it into real use, and improve it based on what people actually do with it.

From the first question to the next improvement

Each step is small, so you see working software early and can change direction cheaply.

How we work

Engineering depth without the unnecessary complexity.

Our engineering leadership has built or led work on SaaS platforms, search systems, publishing platforms, mobile apps and APIs, and AWS infrastructure.

Most of that experience goes into deciding what to leave out. We’ll add queues, separate services, or a larger cloud setup when the problem needs them, and we’ll say so when one well-built application is enough.

  • Applications

React and Next.js frontends on Python, Django, Rails, or Node.js backends, built for what the product needs now and easy to extend later.

  • Integrations

APIs that give each piece of data one owner, with retries and monitoring so a failed sync gets noticed.

  • Production

AWS infrastructure in code, CI/CD, and monitoring, so releases are routine and problems surface before customers report them.

What we’ve built

Products we build and run ourselves, a playground of small tools, and websites for local organizations.

Our own products are the clearest evidence we can show of how we work. Each one started with a specific problem and has a live site, and each project page explains the product decisions, the architecture, and how it’s deployed.

Websites for local organizations

For a local business or a community event, the website has one job: help the visitor call, visit, register, volunteer, or sponsor. We built these two around that next step.

What we can help with

Most projects combine two or more of these. See the kinds of software we build

  1. Custom & SaaS Product Development

Take a product idea to a first version people can use, then through production and the features real users ask for.

Product strategy / MVPs / Production software
  2. Internal Tools & Workflow Automation

For the spreadsheet that became an operations system, the report someone rebuilds every week, and the data your team copies between apps.

Business workflows / Reporting / Automation
  3. Engineering Modernization

Make an existing application safer to change: upgrades, tests, deployment, and architecture work, done while it stays in production.

Applications / Cloud / Delivery systems
  4. Technical Leadership

A second opinion before an expensive decision: rewrite or modernize, build or buy, one application or several services.

Architecture / Delivery / Engineering leadership

Understanding the problem is part of building the product.

AI tools have made code faster to write. They haven’t made it easier to decide what to build, what to leave out, or whether your team can still run the result in two years. That judgment is most of what an experienced engineer is for.

VeloWise, SurgeIQ, and FedPath are products we build and run. Useful Little Tools is where we try small ideas quickly. The Union City Smog Check and Berkeley Omnium websites were built for the people who run them. Each started from a specific question: what does a delivery lead need to see, what does a cyclist’s power data mean, is this federal contract worth bidding on?

What we work on

  • Product scoping & workflow modeling
  • SaaS and internal application development
  • Data, reporting & search
  • APIs, integrations & AWS infrastructure
  • React & Next.js frontends
  • Legacy application modernization
  • LLM features & document processing, where they help
  • Architecture reviews & technical leadership
  • CI/CD, monitoring & production support
